Friday A.M. Open Freestyle: Skaters Needed!

A few of you have asked what it would take to make the Friday Open Freestyle run.

After running the numbers, I have come up with what I need to open the ice during that time. If we start on Sept. 29th and go until Dec. 15th, with the exception of Black Friday, that equals 11 skates. I need $880 total. That amount can be divided up between the skaters who wish to participate. Participants will pay for the entire session, and no drop-in option will be available.

K.B. Willett: Parking and Access

Hello Learn to Skate participants!

Starting this Saturday, I am excited to kick off the 23-24 ice season with Learn to Skate classes! This fall session will require a bit of flexibility on everyone’s part as the Willett Arena will continue to be under construction throughout the rest of 2023. As a result, the Willett parking lot off of Minnesota Ave. will have reduced parking spots available. Please refer to the map attached to this email to see all available parking locations around the arena. We will be utilizing both the east and west entrances of the arena until further notice. In late September/ early October, the east entrance will be completely closed off for about a week. A vestibule will be constructed during this closure. I will update all users when that exact date is known.

Open Freestyle: Friday & Saturday Classes

Hello Skaters and Coaches,

Please consider signing up for the Learn to Skate Open Freestyle ice time on Friday and Saturday mornings. Historically, these ice times were used as open ice for skaters wanting extra practice or a time for coaches and skaters to work together. Last year we moved away from the daily drop in option to registering for the full session only. This fall session Friday Open Freestyle runs from 9/8 to 12/15 with the exception of 11/24. The Saturday Open Freestyle follows the same timeframe as the other Learn to Skate classes: 9/9-10/28. The cost is equal to $8 per skate.

Currently, we do not have enough skaters to run either session. I would like to see a minimum of five skaters registered by Noon on Thursday 9/7 to order to run the hour long skates. If we do have to cancel the classes we will inform those who are registered and refund the fee.

Concessions: Earn money to pay for package, synchro., etc.!

Hello CIFSC families!

Are you interested in helping work concessions during open skate and Learn to Skate? Earn money to pay for package, synchro, etc.!

Concessions shifts are a credit-earning opportunity that can be used to help pay for CIFSC costs and are credited monthly to your account.

We just received our shift schedule and our coordinator will be sending out the shift sign-up later this week.

New volunteers will be expected to attend a training during LTS on either Saturday September 9 or Tuesday the 12th. Experienced volunteers are also welcome to join us for a refresher. If these dates don’t work please let Liz know.

Skaters older than 12 are able to help in the concession stand and skaters over 16 are able to work on their own so long as they also attend the training.

Please email Liz Anderson at eanderson731@gmail.com by Monday the 4th if you’d like to work concessions this year.

Thank you,
CIFSC
