Stevens Point Downtown Holiday Parade: Dec 1, 2023

Crystal Ice Figure Skating Club and Learn to Skate families will once again participate in the Stevens Point Downtown Holiday Parade on Friday, December 1. We need your help to walk alongside the float and pass out candy! This activity is optional, but we’d love to see our skaters (parents welcome too) partake in this fun event for our community! More details on how to participate will be communicated at a further date, but until then save all that Halloween candy for the skaters to pass out. There will be a donation bin in the Skate Shop starting Sunday, October 29. Any donations are greatly appreciated!

Ice Show / Winter LTS Registration: Opens Nov. 1st, Construction Updates

Happy Friday Everyone,

Well, our plans for finishing concrete were set back by the rain yesterday. As a result, the east entrance of the arena will still be closed through Monday of next week. Please continue to use the west entrance.

In order to give all our current skater families a fair chance at getting the classes they want I am pushing the opening registration day to November 1st. Please go to https://secure.rec1.com/WI/stevens-point-wi/catalog to sign up for winter session Learn to Skate and the Ice Show on November 1st!

Friday A.M. Open Freestyle: Skaters Needed!

A few of you have asked what it would take to make the Friday Open Freestyle run.

After running the numbers, I have come up with what I need to open the ice during that time. If we start on Sept. 29th and go until Dec. 15th, with the exception of Black Friday, that equals 11 skates. I need $880 total. That amount can be divided up between the skaters who wish to participate. Participants will pay for the entire session, and no drop-in option will be available.

K.B. Willett: Parking and Access

Hello Learn to Skate participants!

Starting this Saturday, I am excited to kick off the 23-24 ice season with Learn to Skate classes! This fall session will require a bit of flexibility on everyone’s part as the Willett Arena will continue to be under construction throughout the rest of 2023. As a result, the Willett parking lot off of Minnesota Ave. will have reduced parking spots available. Please refer to the map attached to this email to see all available parking locations around the arena. We will be utilizing both the east and west entrances of the arena until further notice. In late September/ early October, the east entrance will be completely closed off for about a week. A vestibule will be constructed during this closure. I will update all users when that exact date is known.

Open Freestyle: Friday & Saturday Classes

Hello Skaters and Coaches,

Please consider signing up for the Learn to Skate Open Freestyle ice time on Friday and Saturday mornings. Historically, these ice times were used as open ice for skaters wanting extra practice or a time for coaches and skaters to work together. Last year we moved away from the daily drop in option to registering for the full session only. This fall session Friday Open Freestyle runs from 9/8 to 12/15 with the exception of 11/24. The Saturday Open Freestyle follows the same timeframe as the other Learn to Skate classes: 9/9-10/28. The cost is equal to $8 per skate.

Currently, we do not have enough skaters to run either session. I would like to see a minimum of five skaters registered by Noon on Thursday 9/7 to order to run the hour long skates. If we do have to cancel the classes we will inform those who are registered and refund the fee.

Willett. We will be going through what it means to be a helper, responsibilities, season overview, and additional opportunities. All interested skaters must attend the meeting.

Please fill out the form following the link below if you would like to be a helper this season.

Ice Show 2023: Volunteer List / Information

THANK YOU to our volunteers for stepping up and filling those slots. Below are a list of volunteers. If you are unsure what your role entails, email me and I will give you a rundown.

All volunteers, please pick a name tag up from the ticket table on the West end of the building. This is how we will track volunteer attendance. If your partner hasn’t shown up, please let a board member know and we will help you out.
