Learn to Skate (Fall 2024): Welcome!

Hello Learn to Skate Participants and Families,

Thank you for registering for a class this fall! We are ready to kick off the 24-25 season. Please read the very useful information below 🙂

  • Saturday classes begin this Saturday, Sept. 7th and end on Oct. 26th
  • Tuesday Classes begin Tuesday, Sept. 10th and end on Oct. 29th
  • Friday Open Freestyle begins Friday, Sept. 13th and end on Nov. 1st.

We still have spots available in several classes. If you have a friend who may be interested in joining lessons, encourage them to sign up! Register up until the second class.

Parking

The KB Willett Arena/Goerke Park is a very busy place. Parking at the Willett Arena and Goerke Park is limited. You can park on both the east and west side of the arena or along neighborhood streets as allowed. Plan to arrive early to park and have enough time to get your skates on and be ready to take the ice at your designated class time. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to the arena. You can enter through the west or east entrances of the Willett.

Look for the white board by the east entrance off Minnesota Avenue. This will tell you where your class is located on the ice and possibly other important information we want to share with you.

Skates

Rental skates are free to use during lessons. We have a good amount of sizes, but our inventory is not unlimited. Come early to get the size you need. Have your own skates? We offer skate sharpening at $7 pair. Drop off your skates and pick up before your next lesson. Sharp skates = better traction on the ice.

PLEASE DO NOT allow skate blades on the metal bleachers or concrete. This damages both the skate blades (and the bleachers). Keep blades on rubber flooring or the ice.

Questions

A great time to speak with an instructor is before or after class. Questions can also be emailed to me anytime.

Absences

We understand everyone cannot make it to every class. Feel free to let us know ahead of time, but if you don’t it’s ok.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Anne
